Hand sanitizer as fire starter, not recommended in wet conditions

At a camping trip last October it was real rainy and wet so I decided to try to use my alcohol based hand sanitizer gel as a fire started. It does not have much alcohol in it, perhaps 70%, so it burned with a low flame, and only for 1-2 minutes.

So it was not useful at all in wet conditions.
