Good day. I recently discovered this site, and am quite impressed. I am a 50 yr old single dad who has loved the outdoors since I was a teenager. I have spent most of my youth in Northern Ontario, hunting, fishing, honing my outdoor/survival skills. I'm presently trying to add to my skills, by practicing primitive survival skills. I am also teaching my 7 yr old daughter the skills she will need to know if and when she spends time 'up north' in the bush.
Well, thats about it. Looking forward to chatting with all you folks, learning and exchanging outdoors knowledge.
Good to meet you all :)
Alex

Glad to have you on the forum, Wanderer. By the way, U2 did a song with Johnny Cash on vocals called The Wanderer. It's a rather obscure song, but it talks about the end of the world (I think). You never can tell with musicians!
Anyway, welcome.

Thanks gang. Crash... I used to spend some time a while back just north of Gainsville canoeing the Santa Fe(?) river with some of my Floridian friends. Really nice area.
Aurelius...funny you should mention U2, one of my most favorite bands, but I've never heard the Wanderer song, gonna have to google it!
Anyways, cheers, off to work now...

It's off the Zooropa album that came out after Achtung Baby. Let's see, what other songs were on that album? Numb and Lemon were the only two that got air time on the radio. I haven't listened to it in a while. I'll have to go dig it out.

YOu might wanna take a look at some of our roads before you make that request official. Local paper today has a headline "pothole purgatory"

Actually, I got that term from an American senator who was yapping on about terrorists coming down to the US from Canada, the year after 9-11. Called us all "canuckistanians" I don't think he meant it as a compliment, but I kind of liked it, so I've used it ever since.
You can't be insulted if you don't take it that way. Besides, it was a US Senator. Like he knows anything........

Welcome aboard! Nice to hear you're teaching your daughter some bush lore. Both of my kids got right into it with me when they were that age. It will give her a lot of confidence in herself. Keep it up dude.
Later,
