We men are always talking about living in the country and one way or another our machismo finds its way in. We often forget about security for the women when us tough guys aren't around. Here's a pretty good article that takes us out of the picture and speaks to what women should do to protect themselves when living out and alone.

Wise advice......particularly the dog part, the gate and the '''don't leave your stuff out" parts.

Chuckle. I wanted my sweetheart to learn how to fire my pistol grip Remington 870. So I took her to the range and showed her how to hold it and told her to expect a good kick when she fired it. I cautioned her that she may be a bit sore after a few rounds. I fired 1 round to demonstrate. She took care of the other 99 rounds in the box. She WAS sore the next day, LOL.

A couple of months back, she asked me if the 1,000 round case of 7.62 I came home with was for her........

Very good article, thanks for posting the link.

Two especially important thoughts for me: get a big dog if I ever live out, alone, long term

watch out for the men who might be "interested".....just a ploy and extra weight in the long run...

Yeah, I read that extra weight in the long run thingy. I can assure you in no uncertain terms that as far as I'm concerned I won't be running short or long so women can rest a bit easier. I'm more of a walker and much more of a sitter.

We do two shows nightly. 7:00 and 9:30. Get your tickets early. Two drink minimum. Women allowed backstage for free.

Something tells me I better avoid your backstage.

This is still one of my favorites.

1. Buy a pair of size 14-16 work boots.
2. Put them on front porch with a copy of Guns & Ammo.
3. Put some giant dog dishes next to boots & magazines.
4. Leave note on your door: "Bubba: Me & Bertha went for more ammo & beer. Back soon. Don't mess with the pit bulls; they messed the mailman up bad this morning. I don't think Killer took part; hard to tell from all the blood. I locked all four of 'em in the house. Better wait outside. Be right back. Cooter

Excellent article; I've bookmarked it gonna email it to a few friends. Occasionally you'll catch a news article about a woman killing an intruder(s) and it just goes to show that criminals underestimate woman. Some of us are in good physical condition and quite skilled with both knives and guns.

The flip-side of this coin is for law-abiding citizens to start learning not to under-estimate female criminals. A few years ago in my town, a woman knocked on a door in the middle of the night claiming she had run her car off the road and was stranded. When the homeowner answered the door, she beat him badly with a baton and robbed him.
