Some truckers put signs on their rigs saying "$4 diesel = higher food costs. Can you afford to eat?" to call attention to their plight while driving slowly enough to attract attention.

...diesel has risen to $3.976 on Monday from $2.463 per gallon in February 2007.

I'm paying $4.57 a gallon in Canada......crazy.

Some of the independents are striking, but not from the major hauler companies that I am aware of.
Some of the major news organizations are televising their plight.

What I heard was that they were in a convoy to Wash. D.C. but I haven't listened to the national news today yet. They do that whenever the price of fuel is getting out of hand and they can't make a profit.

I've never understood that. They drive all the way to D.C. and burn all that diesel to tell people who don't care that they can't afford to drive all the way to D.C. What's up with that? It never has accomplished anything.
