No matter what kind of bag you have the chances are pretty good it has plastic buckles. Having one fail in the field just adds one more complication/aggravation that you don't need. You might consider a spare buckle kit to replace one that breaks. They are generally less than $20 and contain many of the more common buckles. Just choose a kit that closely matches the type of buckles your bag(s) have. Here's a video showing a simple repair of a buckle as well as a couple of resources for a buckle repair kit.
