What? No New York,Illinois (chicago),or California???
Odd. Doesn't DC outlaw guns? Why ever would it be so high on the list with such a novel approach to crime?

tunick, what year was the book published? I have a different list. Just wondering.
Here's a list for 2005 and 2007.

wow, I never thought New Mexico would be up there that high on the list. I'm suspecting a lot of crimes against sheep in the northern parts of the state, and that's scary.

it's a border state with heavy smuggling, drug and immigration traffic. it's also full of booze and firearms [both great, not in combination].

Just like being in the wilderness, being aware of your surroundings and preparing for what could happen goes a long way to your safety and survival.

for example, in the event of a major commercial gourmet mushroom famine, i'll be the only one on my block offering king oyster mushroom and crimini. muahahaha!
such diabolical preparation. now if only they'd come up with a large scale market for dandelion...

It's only a crime if you miss who you're shooting at and hit the wrong person. WV ain't bad and the 15yrs I was in DC guns weren't allowed so I just thought those bangs were cars backfiring, wrong again.
What kind of crime?
Violent crime is more worry some than illeagle ailens.
If you're adding the crome of the politicians you'll never get D.C. off the list. Besides D.C. as a city has a worse hard drug problem than all other states.

Oh, I see the sarcasm now, Rick. :) If you look at the total crimes committed by politicians, and the total number of politicians, I think you would see the greatest number of crimes per capita. Isn't 30% of Congress supposedly convicted criminals?
You have to be more detailed than that. Is it talking about crime events per 1000 people? Does it included only violent crime or all types of crime (violent, non-violent, drug related, etc.)?
You can slice the numbers many different ways to prove what you are looking for.

Welcome marie, how about going to the intro forum and telling us a little about yourself!!!
Come on, ya'll. You have to read a bit...from the link I posted.
"To determine the most dangerous states, rates for six crime categories—murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and motor vehicle theft—are compared to the national average for a given crime category."
Bad enough for me. Number 31 Marie, New York the, hey if you own it it gets taxed, state.
I still say that politicans are the most dangerous. After all G.W. managed to murder 4000 of America's future all by him self.

actually those states were among the most dangerous in the late 80's and early 90's. there alot safer now compared to back then. i think the 3 strikes law had something to do with it.

I live in New Mexico. More and more, I think other states send their mentally challenged and morally corrupt here as punishment.
I will not get into much more then this. I could go on for hours.
