I am wanting to locate the "Website" which would give the earliest warning of a large solar flare. NOT wanting an education on Solar activity and ramifications. Being as I do not own a TV'thingie or Radio'thingie or Cell Phone'thingie, The first thing I do every morning is get up-dated on current events via INTERNET. Is this: http://www.spaceweather.com/ the best site to check........for alerts ????

Yep Spaceweather is good.

I also get a lot of info from our Geophysical Institute.

You can get aurora alerts if that is what you are wanting flare info for.

No....as I understand, it is about 20 hours from eruption........to "DISRUPTION". So that would give me enough time for a fast rush to Los Anchorage for more food.

How much more food than your already hefty (what, at least 3yr?) supply of ramen/sardines/beans, and Lord knows what else?
And do you really want to be that conspicuous only 20 hrs before TSHTF?

Depends on the speed of the matter ejected. The energy from a large flare can arrive in as little as 8 minutes or up to four days from smaller ones. That's why the astronauts are in such danger when doing an EVA. They can get caught outside when one occurs and not have enough time to get back inside the vehicle.
