Crash and others have stated numerous times to use "food grade mineral" oil for protecting the blade after cleaning. I can't find it for nothing! The closest I could find was mineral oil in the pharmacy section. Pharmacist said it is okay to consume it it small amounts. Would this be okay for the knives?

That's the stuff. You can also use petroleum jelly. Keep in mind that there may be better oils, but I prefer to use food grade since there is a good chance that my knife will come in contact with something I eat. I'm sure a little WD-40 won't kill you, but those are my thoughts on it.

I usually just use Pam cooking spray, it has seemed to work for me and nothing has rusted yet.

Any cooking oil will work, but most will eventually go rancid.

Thats what pant legs are for........Right?

Seriously, I use a little light oil, wipe on and off, seems to kinda dry off before I need to use again, but I have a friend that swears by bear grease.....kind running short of bear grease at the momunt

I was just about to put a post and ask why not cooking oil... and you already answered the question. Thanks Crash. Very good point.
