i decided that while i can, i will learn as much about living without the modern conviences as possible. i've almost always tinkered, and when i find odd things, i think about what can i use this for. besides the general knowledge i storehouse, i have a few tools that i keep handy. gerber multitool, machete, etc. i was looking for a larger multitool that would take the place of a machete, axe, hammer and anything else possible. i came across the survival hatchet (bad reviews), the CROVEL (mixed reviews), and finally the WJQ-308. i knew that a shovel, slightly modified, would do most of these things, but the added conviences of the 308 (not to mention time to make) put it far afield of the competition in my mind. you could say, im a best bang for the buck type. but i'm also function before style kind of guy. anyway, any questions, ask!
