Any one have good ideas on how to color code Magazines. I have wondered why this is not more of a issue for the Military.
AR-15's all look the same, they all take the same exact "Magazine", the only difference is the cartridge, and the follower.
I use Grey duck tape on my 6.8 SPC (Special Purpose Cartridge) Magazines, and green duck tape to mark the .223 Remington Magazines. With a .458 SOCOM on order I'll need a new color tape.
The 6.8 and the .223 look enough alike that until I started marking the magazines, I would find myself afield with both.
Any active duty personnel know how this is handled by teams....????

NATO uses the same standard ammo (5.56mm) and therefore each country uses only one magazine. Ours in Canada are the same as the US. Even with newer issue weapons, magazines are the same, if not a British Unit could not resupply a US unit working with it and vs versa.

YES, BUT some teams are using the 5.56 NATO, some the 6.8 SPC, and some teams are using the .458 SOCOM.

I use different colored mag pulls for my different calibers. When on active duty, our shipboard small arms locker only had three calibers in it - no color coding. At the time we carried .45's, M-14's and 12 ga. Not too hard to tell the difference.

Crash, Do you recall what model shotgun was in service at that time.....? I wonder when the Model 97 went out of service? The Model 97 is my personal favorite.

I don't remember the models, but we carried Mossburg and Remington pumps. The weapons onboard submarines were usually the older models of everything the military had.
