View Full Version : The Square Knot (reef knot) in Netmaking

The sheet bend is the standard knot used in netmaking. Sometimes with small eshes and thin twine the square knot might be used. Here is how it is done.


Bring the needle from Front to Back (not back to front as usual) - see left side of photo. Complete the knot by as usual BUT tie the half hitch around the single right hand strand (instead of both strands) of the loop you are tying into - see right side of photo.

This completes the square knot (reef knot, flat knot).
