I stumbled across these clever, and certainly inexpensive LED flashlight plans. I make no claims about its effectiveness, and question whether there's a better way than permanently soldering the batteries, but figured it would at least generate some enhancements from this erudite group :-)

See, Bragg. If you lived in the city you could just cruise around to the different hotels in town. They always have conferences going on and they always give stuff like cheap flashlights away. Just stroll in like you work for Lilly or BP or whoever it is, have some fruit and a diet. Pick up some trinkets and move on to the next one. Those cheap name tags you can buy at Office Depot are like Corporate Camouflage.

The company that I buy my promotional give-aways from has some pretty interesting stuff. One of the items I bought is a little blue LED light on a carabiener. They're ok little lights - people seem to like them (you can never have too many lights)

Neat, I have made LED flashlights too, and replacement red bulbs for my 2 cell flashlights. They work great and sip so little battery power you would not believe it.

Very Nice, But cheap led lights are sold in nearly every store up here for next to notthing, ive seen them at 50p for a pack
I wouldn't take the time to build one but knowing how to do it could be a nice survival tool.

I agree with Rick, and that is a clever design.

Any thing that starts the hat rack on my shoulders is a good thing.

I can make a quick LED flashlight in about 10 minutes with no case, assuming I have all the parts. With a case it takes about another 10 minutes to drill holes for the lights and switch.
