Don't disagree with anything he said.
It'll be a sad day when we get to that point.

Problem is these sad days rush to you when you ain't ready.

I, emotionally, ain't ready to turn starving children away. I know, I'm a pussy.

I know that the parents will eat what is for the children and be back, "for the children's" food.

What to do? I still wanna die a "Man" as my upbringing and morals determine manhood/manliness.

I have and do see "survival" attitudes and opinion on-line. It's a bit scary. Most are talking bravado and genie wishes.

Hey Winter, I'm a pussy too when it comes to kids. But, I have my own kids and as a loving father, I will do anything to ensure that they are takin care of. Whenever there is a catastrophe, men, women, and kids die. It sucks and is heartbreaking, but I am just one man. To think that I can save everyone is complete foolishness. My morals and convictions lead to taking care of my wife and kids which is a requirement of my wedding vows and God's entrustment of kids to me. Don't get me wrong, I will help others. Just not at the expense of those I am actually responsible for.

Survival is one thing...living with ourselves is quite another.

Words spoken so true. But I know where my commitments are and who I am responsible for.

If I can, I would like to form a small group in a situation. This can be somewhat of a "small town" so to speak. This can really help out alot and allow me to share my food supply. Chores can also be divided up and lot accomplished this way. Have a few people hunt, a few people fish, a few people gather firewood, a few people maintain a fire, a few people process water, a few people scavange and gather, and a few people always stand guard duty. My ideal group would have 20-25 adults and hopefully not more than a dozen kids.

Natertot, if you haven't read this book, you'll really enjoy it and get a lot out of it.
It deals exactly with a set up you're talking about. A neighborhood coming together and organizing in a SHTF scenario.

I, too, think that would be the best way to go, bar none.

I watched the Movie "Brothers" last month at someones house, and his last line in the movie, "Now that I know how to Kill, I need to find a way to live". It was a very powerful movie.

Thanks B! I will see if I can track that book down. I read the preview and I am interested now!

I bought 5 of Dave's book, "Lights Out", as gifts for people to try to wake them up a bit.
