That's actually the site I made mine from. The handle was too small/thin so I coated mine in rubber and then wrapped with hockey stick tape (kinda like electrician's tape but less slippery on the nonsticky side). High carbon content, good edge-holding, if you leave the hacksaw blade on you can can wires and thin sheet metal. They do break easily though, so don't do anything but cut.

Haven't made one or used one but from the looks it seems like the teeth on the handle top would hurt or cut the hands.

I've made several. They are easy to make. I used duct tape on the handle part (guess it's another place to store duct tape). I've got several stashed in various kits and bags. You never know when something sharp will come in handy.

See this is why we need a "workbench" sub-forum to talk about building things that are not just primitive. :D What's up Chris & Sarge you ignoring the Poll in the Forum Feedback section. JK can we get it though... huh huh... can we can we... are we there yet... are we there yet... are we there yet...

I worked in a machine shop some time back. They had a metal stock saw with a 2" wide, 1/16th" thick reciprocating blade. When the teeth wore out, I kept the blade for just that purpose. Made several great knifes out of it.

I made something like this not to long ago, It involved getting a hacksaw blade, Cutting two equal parts of about 4", Getting some PVC tubing cut it in hlaf, On one bit of the hacksaws flatten out the serrations and sharpen, the other leave serated, Warm up the PVC tubeing and bend in half untill the same size as the two blades ontop of oneanother, Useing a screw and washers attach the blades to the PVC tubeing and you have yourself a hlaf decent folding knife that doesnt take to long to make

Finish it off your own way, i left mine normal.

Haven't tried the sawsall, but imagine you can. My purpose for having made serval hacksaw knives was to ensure that I something sharp with me no matter what. Even in a little pocket kit, it takes up very little room and weight is not an issue.

I make them for carving. Easy to shape & sharpen. Fits homemade carving handle tight and hold an edge. Use fine tooth blades cut down for max length 2" saws. Want a stronger blade, take largest cut nail you can find and shape keeping it cool, carving blades also. Don't want the saw? Just use the saw side for the blade.

It's always fun to know how to make things, but with 25+ pocket/camping knives, I'm thinking I won't run out of knives soon.
