Couple of weeks ago, I lost another hunting partner, this one to COPD, he has been poorly and Doctoring here for a couple of years.

He asked me to give his wife and son some assistance in finding his guns and knives good homes.

We have/had another friend that is an FFL dealer, so he will assist my friend's wife/son and myself, in going thru the collection for disposal.

I have already purchased and taken several pieces off his hands in that last couple of years, as well as, lots of tools and rendezvous gear.

His son is more of a techie, but has shown some interest in getting his hunting certificate and keeping some pieces from his father, after some urging from me.

This is going to take place tomorrow, so we will see what he has left, as he did collect Ducks Unlimited, Pheasants Forever, and several other organization dinner collectibles.....which are cool and all but I wouldn't shoot them...so kinda worthless to me.
Hopefully we can sell some and generat some cash.

Anyone collect these?

Might be an intresting day

Condolences on your friend hunter.

I buy knives from time to time and if you can get a group photo of the knives I would take a look at them and maybe buy some.

Sorry for your loss. Losing a good friend really takes a hold on a person.

Same as Winter, post pics of what you feel you should sell and we'll see what can be done.

Thanks guy/gals....seems I'm loosing hunting partners pretty fast, part of the cost of getting older I guess.

Made many trips, and hunting seasons together, with our families, as well as, working, hanging out, camping, both modern and primitive.

Hadn't though about it, till y'all brought it up, so I will bring my camera.

He was kinda lucky when it came to raffles and such(this means he spent alot on money on them, LOL).....his way of supporting the many organizations that do fund raising.

So hopefully we can recover some cash for his wife.

Just got back a while ago from my friends house.
The dealer/friend and I went over the collection, that seemed to be a selection of inherited old .22's, and shotguns....and dinner prize shotguns....plus his normal hunting guns.

The son decided that he wanted to keep the hunting guns, at least for now, as there wasn't any hurry. He knows that possibly some day he might want to use them.

The only two I was looking at was a Win '94 and Marlin 30-30's, that the sons friends were trying to low ball him....they won the bid, but at a fair price,.... cool.
Dealer called a couple of collectors and the Browning Dinner guns are going at good prices....with just a Savage Model 99 .303 1920's rifle being bid on by a couple of collectors at this point.

That leaves the .22's and a couple of .410's that the dealer will take to some shows as $100 buck truck guns.

I do have a standing offer for a BP Navy Colt in .44.....at an agreed price as a back up if it doesn't sell.

I did take some pic's of the knives, but are all DU dinner prizes, and really not very interesting.
Early ones (2) are Buck but the later ones are Sweden, Canada, and of course China....Seems our prizes (I'm on our local D.U. Committee) are getting cheaper all the time...

Will post pic's if anyone is intersted.

Sorry Hunter for your loss. Good for you for helping out and spurring his lad in the right direction and for seeing he get's fair pricing.
My dad has money and likes high end collectable arms. If something real fancy doesn't go send me some pics... Who knows.

I'll be your hunting buddy! I eat a lot, but I'm helpful, and flatulate.

Thanks for the offer.

The high dollar collectors guns are sold, hunting guns seem to be sold or the boy is gonna keep them for now.

The dealer that was there is going to bring the table guns to a couple of shows.....there is an older marlin, bolt, in .22mag and a Navy Arms .44 colt brass frame I have kinda expressed intrest in...if he doesn't sell them.

Knives are going fast to friends as keep sakes....so things are under control.

Was kinda sad and weird looking them over... as here was his hunting "life' laid out on a table,... I had seen him use and I have shot a lot of these guns on verious trips over the years.

As I am getting a little older, I guess I should get used to this.....Like a reminder to make every day count.....

Thanks for the the condolances everyone, I'm sure y'all have or will run into the same thing sooner or later.

And not a bad idea for all of us to have our wills made/updated and identify who gets what. I got tibs on the Karaoke!
