Kemporer - See my post on pit cooking. Same as the IMU link.

I was actually thinking it might be a good addition to anyone thinking about a homestead. CabinGirl was looking for a chimney oven and this might be a good alternative if your winters are a bit light. My gas grill is used in all but the coldest weather, generally January and February, and I think a brick oven would be much more energy efficient that a grill.

The designs you provided could also double as a forge provided that the correct mortar is used.
