Well the ground is starting to freeze in the arctic country, but it looks like they are going to install the first 17' to 19' of my electric line to my remote service panel sometime next week. This will leave me little time to install the balance of 275 feet of 4/0 4/0 2/0 buried line down 36". It is going to be close with the ground partly frozen.

Can't your dozer bucket make short work of that?

Get your trench dug now before the ground fully freezes.

Rodger that.... rented trencher works well.

That's the truth. Needed to do a 150ft this past summer. Rented trencher and was done in one afternoon.

The ability of trenching equipment to deal with frozen ground varies. But folks around there should know what it takes.

While you have a trench dug, consider dropping in an empty run of conduit in case you need to add (or replace) telephone, cable TV, fiber internet, electric gate control, intercom, security camera, etc. in the future. Space it out from the power feed to reduce hum pickup - run one on each edge of the trench or partly fill the trench before running so the area between is filled with dirt.

Good idea on the empty conduit run, just make sure you install "pull tape" Muletape by Neptco is a good pull tape.

17 feet closer. Yesterday I was up at 3:45 AM plowing and shoveling for 4 hours so they could get the big man-lift utility truck up the mountain. They still had to chain-up, but they got it up here, and installed the transformer and 17 feet of direct bury to the remote pedestal. Now only 265 feet for me to dig 36 inches deep.
