(tradition being http://www.wilderness-survival.net/forums/showthread.php?7813-Posting-Your-Introduction)

Leaving aside my first real introduction to this place (here (http://www.wilderness-survival.net/forums/showthread.php?17100-can-t-register-meself-either!)!) where I get all pissed off and stuff (my actual replies to that thread havent been approved and posted yet), here's my REAL intro:

I'm a REAL IT professional (so unless u know ur stuff, dont argue with me about technical matters), male above 30, currently residing in Asia. I've done military duty (and still continue to do as a reservist).. Wont get into any details there. Done survival, basic first aid, cpr, and other training. Not as much of an expert as i believe some of u will be in survivin out in the outdoors, and definitely not as much of an expert as some of the trainers out there. Right now, i'm just a military, and survival enthusiast (i think if all big boys are! it's just the nature of the boy inside, no?).

I'm here to ask questions (that's how i got here! by googling), and hopefully learn and participate, see what can come of this experience.

And last but not least, m^U*#*<ing dont bunch me up with some spammers!!!!

Hello and welcome. Thank you for your service. I promise not to argue with you about IT stuff if you promise not to argue with me about anything that I tell you I am a real expert in. :innocent: Sounds like you still have your knickers in a bit of a bunch. Nobody here entered your IP address into the forum spam databases.

well, if u take being labelled together with the spammers of the earth kindly, there's something wrong with u... I know nobody here keyed in my ip address. To quote spamhaus (from http://www.spamhaus.org/pbl/removal/):

THE PBL IS NOT A BLACKLIST. You are not blacklisted for spamming or for anything you have done. The PBL is simply a list of ALL of the world's end-user broadband IP space, i.e: IP space normally assigned to broadband/ADSL customers. It is perfectly normal for dynamic IP addresses (DSL, DHCP, cable, dialup) to be listed on the PBL. In fact all IP addresses in the world which are not designated mail server machines *should be* on the PBL.

The pure stupidity of it was using a list designed for smtp spam to try and stop http spam. When the two types of traffic are clearly different, and where u might expect no smtp traffic, u should be sure to expect LOTS of http traffic... Dont broadband users surf at all???? And really, stopping http spam for real really requires an altogether different approach for the most part.

As for not arguing about stuff.. yeah i understand. But note that i'm just very pissed off about being labelled with the scum of the earth. And the sheer stupidity of it all (u know how many times i tried to register?), coupled with the genuine desire to want to register, and then post/participate.... Case in point here about arguing: i'm not going to entertain any argument from any fool who doesnt know his stuff, and is still going to try and label me as a spammer.

Nobody here labeled you a spammer, so your angst may be misdirected. Speaking for myself, I said.....
The problem is that your IP address has been flagged about 35 times in the stopforumspam data bases. Don't know if you have been hacked and somebody is using your IP address, but the software used here interacts with that data base to prevent spammers. Pretty sure that is why you cannot register.

yes, i know. I was speaking in reference to my original "first" thread that i posted (http://www.wilderness-survival.net/forums/showthread.php?17100-can-t-register-meself-either!). I know u're not labelling me as such. Pls. That was a very neutral post, meant to be genuinely helpful. I can tell the difference. (And thanks for replying to my intro, btw! havent said that yet)

I have a feeling that you aren't going to last long, IT professional or not. Take your rant to Spamhaus if it bothers you so much.

haha, i do very well, thank you! If u will not listen... what do i care. I could, i guess. For the rest of the guys affected. But i'm in right now. And as long as u dont attempt to do anything to stop that... i'll remain in.
