How is a poll created and posted?

I'm lost. Been on the web for 10 yrs and never posted a poll.

The Readers Digest version is - when you start a thread - scroll down a little and you will see an option to add a poll. In that option block you will select the number of choices available (up to 10). After you type your post and hit submit you are taken to a screen to add the poll choices. The link sjj provided is more complete than my explanation.
