The Monument fires in Southern Az had my wife and I ready to bug out. We were within 10 miles of the fire and on Pre-Pre evac notice. The good thing is that I reviewed everything I had stashed in my BOB and didn't find it wanting.
We just added 2 five gallon jerry cans of water and were good to go. We could have went anywhere and had food, shelter, water, meds extra clothes, personal protection. Etc.
Photographed everything in the house, for looting/insurance purposes, packed important papers and photos (without the frames) that could not be replaced. Said goodby to alot of items and just waited for the call that never came.
It appears that the fire is now over 75% contained and we should be OK.
When it jumped across Hwy 92 it burnt 6000 acres of grassland in 1 1/2 hours. It was being pushed by wind speeds over 40 MPH
