I just get 8 or 10 tarantulas and turn them loose in the house. Withing a week the bugs are gone and the spiders have left for better stomping grounds.
I have a nest under the house now that has been there for a few years and I have no ants in the yard.

Uh, okay. Then I'd have to move and let the BIG HAIRY CREATURES! have the house.
Soapy water, powdered charcoal, turmeric, cayenne pepper, cinammon, citrus oil are great barriers.
Borax added to sugar, Diatomaceous earth, Boric acid, all good insecticides.
Just remember that some insects, like ants, lay down pheromone trails and those should be cleaned with soap and water to discourage other insects from following the trail.

DE is great. it's how i keep slugs out of outdoor mushroom cultures. you'd be supprised what slugs can do to a mushroom bed culture overnight.

Common dryer sheets worn under you'r hat and partcialy exposed will keep dog flies and mosquitos off you'r face as well as cedar resin/sap on the brim of a cap works well when DET products are'nt available. Common bleach works well for ants and bees, please be careful with bees, they can be useful for many things..The dryer sheets can offer some water proofing when rubed on the shoulders and upper arms of outer wear.

Home steading, chickens and geunie fowl are the best bug catchers made, and guenie fowl will eat fire ants if they are infesting in or around roosting areas.

Self rising flour,I use it in my garden since the daughter had a reaction to sevin dust, and was told it works when the bugs eat it and it mixes with the fluid in their stomach it causes it to expand, killing the nasty little critters, should work the same in your home.

Boric Acid is great for killing off Cock-Roaches. You squirt it around your base boards and other Roach-infested areas and they run though it, get it all over themselves, go home to the nest and get cleaned by their comrads and help clean their comrads off as well, inadvertantly killing off the entire community. Give it around 30 days and the little buggers are gone! It's either Dollar General or Family Dollar that markets a low-cost bottle of this stuff called "Zap-A-Roach".
