As I drew down on the possum in my trap in the first blush of dawn I was embarrased when I MISSED from 15 ft away. Although I shoot my revolver on a regular basis and would have thougth I had good sight alignment just from the feel...I did not. (groove rear sight, fixed blade front)

Reminded me that the tendency is to shoot high in low light or when point shooting, so take your point then drop it a wee bit. Of course this is just me, and without the benefits of modern lowlight aiming aids, so dont quote this as gospel. Better to take a hundred rounds and go test it! ;)

Did the second shot get him, or the first one just give him a heart attack?

Second shot took care of it, just embarrassed myself.

I'll bet that possum was laughing at you for missing him the first time. Not so much the second time, probably.

It does not matter if it has not been above freezing for months!
