I have been putting together a compact fishing kit for day hikes or my BOB and because it is fun. I love fishing so I had plenty of gear lying around. It takes a truck to haul my typical fishing outing! Well, I ran across an older collapsable rod at the local good will for a dollar and just couldn't help myself. I started by chosing a reel from the pile in the closet. I chose this one mostly due to the extra spool, that and it is built tough. The reel seat was flimsey taiwan junk so I mounted the real permantly (gorilla glue) and a paracord wrap handle. The alice clips make for easy attachment to my pack. I fitted the kit with the panfish and catfish basics.

I couldn't stop there so I came up with this stealthy kit as a tag along...lol!

I picked up this ultra small ultrlight gig...but had to weld it up to strengthen it for the duration.

Now I am working on a sling bow and fishing arrow kit! pics to come! Enjoy!

Nice set up.

Thanks Crash, I love that folding Fillet Knife, had it for years. Perfect for this and holds a razor edge.

Here is the pack fitted with everything for 72 hrs of hiking and fishing supplies. Still need to add the sling bow. I am very happy with how it is coming. It Is an Alice frame with varying stages of kit, a modular system. I can change out small kits depending on the adventure.

I think that's pretty slick. I'd like to find a rod like that one. Nice job.

Thanks Rick! It was a good find. Just needed alot of beefing up. I still need to re-glue the eyes and plan to wrap them where they weren't for added strength.

I use a couple of hand lines in a 5litre bucket, with a cast net, and a small amount of disposable tackle, hooks, knife, multi tool, sinkers and floats, etc.
A small bucket can be very easy to pack or stow in the trunk.

The hand lines can be set over night, or watched for movement whilst you are relaxing. The hand lines can be turned into trot lines or drop lines with many hooks on them.

The cast net will catch a Hugh amount of fish even if you are blind casting.
