I know that quite a few of us keep a wide array of hand tools around. I actually enjoy working with them, but during a power outage they can sure come in handy too. Here's a pretty good write up in Mother Earth News that explains how to sharpen one.

I'm pretty good at the chainsaw, but never tried any hand saws. I'll have to try it!
neat article, I'll have to see if I can get hold of the book.

I should have that issue wait at home for. Good stuff.
Thanks.

I have always found MEN helpful to me.

Please confirm it from a blacksmith near your place. He might guide you better.

My grandfather was a carpenter and all he ever used was hand tools no power tools and I remember him sitting around in the evenings with his saws and several files sharpening them. I was to young to care about that at the time now I wish I would of watched him.
Thanks for posting the link.

Here is the definitive guide on saws. Read through it and you'll learn where the phrase "out of joint" came from. It's probably more than you'll ever want to know.

And even more info on their main saw page.

He sho do have a purddy mouf....can ya make oinky noises reguularararara like..............Oh wait we are talking about a magazine... OK.. got it......neva mind... whisltes innocently.....

I bought a gadget from Duluth Trading that SETS saw teeth by using a wrench on the side of the gasket, will set three teeth at a time. Makes it easier to sharpen the teeth once they are set properly.
