Kind of like cob construction only with bags.

This is a wonderful building idea. It certainly has some tricky aspects, but anyone who wants to use this method will find ways to make it work. A Portland remodeling contractor who lives near us is attempting this construction method for a small structure on his property. So far it's going well. His is a work building, so the interior walls don't have to be very sophisticated. It would be interesting to see the inside walls for a regular living space in one of these shelters.

I've built a many a command post and gun position just like that when I was in the USMC they make for great quick to build structures and if you like roughing it they make great hunting cabins and even better deer stands.

This is very interesting. One thing there is lots of around the my area is dirt and bags are easy enough to pack in to the site. If I can find some o.d. coloured bags, this is something I could build over this summer.
Thanks for sharing it!

Edit: Found out what I did wrong. Fixed it. Sorry 'bout that!
As a side note, I wonder how fussy you need to be about the fill for the bags to do a decent job? A lot of the websites that talk about this construction method say you need sand, or sand/clay mix. Around here all I have is dirt. There is sand/pebble/rock mix in the bars in the river, but it would be too heavy to lug to a location and a huge amount of work to separate it.
