Okay, it isnt stone but it is my attempt at making a blade to look like it is. I will fit it with a hickory handle and "lash it" around the notches in the spear head. I dont have any sinew, so I'll have to use thin twine. What do you think?

I did make two mistakes already..I usually do the majority of the clean up after heat treat but I wont be able to with this one or I will wipe the "Knapp marks" out so I have some deep sanding belt scratches that I should have cleaned up first but I will have to live with now. Also, I should have gone with a convex grind so I could have marked it much farther through the blade..I might try again.

I like the look too, and you can never go wrong when you make it all yourself! Props!!

Is this a hacking tool, for hunting, or just for fun?
I ask because there are some differences in the way it's "hafted".

If you have a Hobby Lobby near you they have artificial sinew in the leather section. You can get a small spool or a large one. It's waxed string but looks like sinew.

My local Tandy store carries artificial sinew as well.

Oh, yeah, the knife (chuckle) forgot, sorry. I don't see the scratches and most would probably figure its part of the pattern anyway. Maybe the pics are hiding them, I don't know. But I do like it.

Pretty Darn cool!! Probably especially attractive to "Reenactors", if it is up for sale.

This is really just a drop point that has been "distressed" to look the way it does. In hine site, I wish I would have gone with a convex, two sided blade to really give it the look I was after.

Nope, I think Pancho did one a little while back.

I did make one but it wasn't this style. I have been wanting to make a primitive looking dagger like this as well. If I ever get set up to forge I want to make an aztec sacrificial looking dagger out of steel. Camp I think you are right about the convex grinds. Still.. it is very very cool just the way it is.!!

The knapping thread was my inspiration..I cant work with stone or glass like some of the guys here but I can get metal to move some!
