Me and my 9yr old are heading out into the chequamegon nicolet national forest for small game hunting. We were just going to stay the day and head back home but he asked if we can stay the night "hell yes". Going to get some snow tonight should be a fun weekend.Going again in Jan with my brother and cousin for 5days going to pack into the bush and build a shelter let the good times roll.

Sorry not much of a tip giver on the small game hunting whitetails is where i spend most of my time when I'm in the woods. Its funny I've been able to harvest 2 P&Y bucks, hunting public land came close this year to getting number 3.But I have not killed a wild gray squirral.Just started getting into grouse hunting, lots of fun and lots of birds by us this year.

cm ya remind me of days gone by when my son and I used to canoe the Turkey river in northeast Iowa fishing for smallmouth and hunting squirrals. Used to take the canoe a small two man tent some light artillery and a castiron fry pan. Shot squirrals when we saw them and caught smallmouth when we could find them and camped on the sandbars as we paddled down the river. Thankyou for reminding me. Those are good memorys. Make some of your own. Good luck and be safe.

Sounds like a great time. That guy will carry memories like that forever. I still remember me and dad out fishing. Well, when I can remember stuff. What was I talking...oh, yeah. Stay safe.

Winter Camping with my 9yr old son was a success, we made are camp went hunting, ate squirrel for dinner had a nice fire allday. We spent most of the day beating the brush and just hanging out in the woods.I'm trying to teach my son that some times you just got to slow down and not be in a rush all the time, like most of are lives are.O after he woke up from this camping trip he had 3 chest hairs. lol.

Good job getting your kid out there. It makes a difference in what type of person he will be.
