I took an empty can of tomatoes, ripped the paper off, and made a hole in it.

Then, i lighted fat wood like a match (an idea i got from AS), and put it inside the stove with the fuel inside.

Its pretty obvious and straight forward, but it worked well, and i plan on reusing it. Thanks for reading :)

That only works with southern tomaters. Just kidding.

If you poke some more holes in the bottom of the can it will allow more air to feed the fire and give you a hotter flame. But good job none-the-less!

Oops! I posted before you had all the pictures up I guess. Nice job. I didn't realize you had that large of a hole. That should work just dandy!!!!

Thanks guys! I think they call that a hobostove yeah :)

Rick, i am planning on adding even more holes, because it simply took too long to boil, and it never got 'really' boiling (None of the big bubbles).

I think its called fatwood, im not sure, but its some kind of wood that has a high amount of resin in it, thus burning longer and stronger than normal wood, and can be lighted abit like a match.

When I was in Boy Scouts we made a stove using a tuna can. We coiled up pieces of cardboard and coated it in wax. I can't remember how long it burned but it worked well. Good job looks good.

It goes by a lot of names - probably mostly area dependent.
fat wood
fat lighter
lighter wood
lighter knot
pitch wood
stump lighter

and probably a couple of dozen other names.

It is pine wood heavily saturated with pine rosin. It lights at a low temp and burns like a match.

You can buy it at WallMart in the section where they keep charcoal and other fire starters. That way you do not have to go through the woods kicking apart rotten pine stumps to gather it.
