I went to the woods I grew up playing in. Its less than half the size now. I never realized the plants that were in those woods. I just saw the pines, palms, vines and ferns. I remember the first time I went and saw all the limestone caprock and ferns and vines that you could climb and swing on just like tarzan. I was a kid in heaven!

Later we rode our bikes on natural trails. Running into the "banana spider" was always a blast. LOL

Later as we became teens we built bonfires and tried to impress the girls with our knowledge of the woods.

Still plenty of golden orb spiders or "banana spiders as we called them.

My hand behind one for size. These spiders rarely bite and my hand is touching the web. But, my bicep is just off of a main strand. I accidentally twanged that web while trying to take the pic and he rushed over to see what was up.

The creek the area gets its name from, the water drainage left it a fraction of what it was.

I was amazed at how much wild coffee and beautyberry there was in these woods. I was also amazed at how much of the holly I always thought was the invasive brazilian pepper tree is actually dahoon holly.

I wonder if any one knows what this plant is?

Great pictures. Was that plant herbaceous or woody, more like a tree or shrub, or weedy? It looks to be in the four o'clock family (Nyctaginaceae) but it shouldn't have berries. I'll do some looking.

Here are the branches. I would say it is a shrub.
