The accident starts at post # 6 (I think we have a newish member here who is stationed at Kodiak Coast Guard Base.

Reading this makes me think of all the times I have gone head over butt down the side of a ridge through a laural thicket.

It is also the reason I carry a day pack on my daily walks. I'll bet most people do not even report falls as "hunting accidents".

I hope this woman recovers quickly.

Thanks for the post. It only takes a second and you don't have to be in the outback of AK for it to happen. A slip off a ladder, step off the curb wrong, lot's of ways to injure yourself.

we got a different sort of terrain and vegetation where i'm from, but when you're faced with the decision to continue falling down a ravine or stop yourself with that stand of devil's club, you're better off taking the fall.
