I just read something today that I have never heard of before. It said that you can test an egg to see if it is good by filling a bowl with cold water and putting the egg in it. If the egg floats it is no good, has anyone else heard of doing this ?

You can also put them in a room and give them two pencils and 20 minutes to complete the test. Okay, that's funny. Admit it, that's funny.

If it sinks to the bottom and stays there, it is about three to six days old.
If it sinks, but floats at an angle, it's more than a week old.
If it sinks, but then stands on end, it's about two weeks old.
if it floats, it's too old and should be discarded.

You can also test an egg to see if it's fresh or hard boiled. Place on the counter and spin it. If it wobbles then it's fresh. If it spins evenly then it's hard boiled.

My wife does a lot of baking cakes for birthdays and whatnot. She always tests her eggs this way. it works.

That's dang near cheating!
Not all of us have the luxury of knowing when our eggs were laid.
Heck, I can't even remember the last time I was.....oh, nevermind.

Yeah, and writing the "dropped on" date doesn't work very well either.
