Last sat was opening for ducks in Wisconsin.

As a lot of the state (northern) had major rivers flooded.
Roads, boat launches, and islands (old favorite spots) all need to have a "Plan B".

Went out to the cabin last Tuesday, gonna get the boat, checked out, batteries charged, fresh fuel, clean up etc.
Well, turned out I didn't have the boat key, (in other truck?), WTF moment.

Off to the dealer, 40 miles away, they do have master keys, so I was OK.

So much for being prepared, I guess.

Boat now ready, hunting buddy showed up with Gunner (new 18 month old dog), Fri nite (he had to work).

Sat morning off to my hunting spot, 2 hours away, on the way at 4 AM, indicator light on dash says, "low tire". Another WTF moment.

Stop, check all tires with flashlight and tire gauge, all at 54 Lbs? WTF?

Off to the boat launch, put in, parked the truck, and went hunting, not knowing if I would have a flat when I got back or not.

Gunner had not been in a boat yet, needs to practice swimming, but was really getting into it!

Got a few ducks, got a little wet, needed truck stop to get enough air to get the tires up to 65 lbs, and found out the duct tape does keep water out of waders when they start splitting from age.

I love fall! so many hunting seasons, so little time, new hunting dog,
Priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is your puppy a Marine Warrant Officer? (Gunner - you get it).

LOL, When I bought him at a Ducks Unlimited Dinner, my friend that picked him out for the auction, had named him Gunner.
As "Gunny" is a much better short name than "G**D***IT, Gunner" (all Labs first name really is "G**D***it") I use it, and did make the connection.

He really didn't know about the boat, or swimming in deep water, hence the "Look" in the pic, I was just pleased as punch at his natural abilities.

We did get several ducks for wings, (tie on the throw dummy), he seemed to really get into it, as well as busting thru the cat-tails.

Now more practice for my buddy...............

Just goes to show ya, that no matter how much you prepare, something can happen that you never gave a thought to.

Was worth it, great time.

I just dragged my jon boat home from camp to get it ready for next week...my first duck hunt of the year!! Looks like you had a great time, Well done!

Oh, dont forget to check the pressure in the spare also..when you get a low air alarm and the tires look good, it might be the spare.

Good luck, don't for get the keys, charge the batteries.

Just had the whole truck surviced today, but I'll remember to check the spare.
Nothing like having a truck that acts like a wife, "Your tires are low"...(say sarcastically)

Camp - Thanks, I didn't even think about the sender in the spare. I have it etched to memory now, which might not be such a good thing. But thanks for the tip anyway.

How do those things work???

I dont know about the Ford, but the GM has a sensor the rides on the inside of the rim on a rubber band. It communicates with the on board computer to give pressure readings on each tire.

Great pictures, and it sounds like a great time, Hunter.

I always get confused about whether it's duck season, or wabbit season. LOL
