I don’t know what tree it was it was a long time ago. It was just oozing out of a tree and I was curious so I eat some and it was really bad so I got all the other kids to try it.

just poke a 1inch diameter 6inch long tube in the tree and have a bucket collecting the sap running out of the tube.

My friend brought some "candy" back from Taiwan, it had peanuts held together with a nougat or something like it, and covered in bits of seaweed. It literally tasted like SH*T and made your breath smell like it! She started handing it out at work after we found out. hehehe

i am tring to picture eating tree sap, now up here we make syrup from the sugar bush. i missed an opp to learn that from a wifes co worker this year but hopefully next spring anywho, all that i can think about tree sap especially pine is the rosin that it is used for being sticky like when i used to ride bulls we would use rosin on our rpoes and gloves to help keep our hands closed. couldn't imagine actually eating that stuff. right now i can't think of the worst thing that i have ever eaten in the bush.

Everyone is like saying grubs are bad... true, they aren't sweet and tasty raw. But, if you roast them over a fire them boil the and mix in some spices they can be quite edible.

Out of all of the stuff i've eaten in the woods, I still would have to vote on chitlins - nasty stuff...

I love that attitude. Actually, you can make syrup from birch trees too, not as good as maple. Spruce or pine gum make for really good toothpaste, just scrape it off the tree and chew it like chewing gum, quite a bitter taste but it cleans the heck out of your teeth. I honestly can't think of anything wild that I've eaten that was really, really bad, some things have a pretty bitter taste to them, but I think a lot of that is because we're accustomed to processed foods

It was so bitter my eyes rolled back in my hed and my eyelids fluttered, and so did all the other kids lol. I don’t think you could make syrup out of that tree sap, there was like no sugar content.

my eyes rolled back in my hed and my eyelids fluttered,

I may have paid for things that I could ingest that would cause that same reaction--- earlier in my life, lol

So my first worst food was just the worst I've ever eaten but the worst wild food was a tiny little bluegill cooked over a burning pile of rotten soggy pine logs. BLECH!!!

Only food that could be considered gross that I've had in the wild is ants. Which actually tasted decent. Like sour...idk.
