I figured that if I'm going to own a Bowie Knife, I may as well get one from a maker that has a history with them. This was made by Johnnie Bowie. He is a member of the knife club that I belong to and has been helping me along with my knife making learning.

Crash, just re-read all those responses and you can't help but pick up on the covetous envy these people are feeling towards you about that knife. These are your friends, brother, so in an effort to maintain peaceful accord and a sense of fraternity, maybe you should send that knife on up here and I'll just take care of it for you and then y'all can put it out of your minds and get back to feeling the love. Just trying to help brother....

@Trax - once again your generous and caring side has shown through. Being a brother of mine, I just couldn't bear for you to carry that burden around.

@JIC - It's a knife I ordered from him a couple of months ago. If you would like one or more in time for Christmas, send me a PM as to how many you would like to give out to your friends here at WSF. I'll even see if I can get you a discount on the price. Very generous JIC, very generous indeed.

Well - I just picked up the big brother to the Bowie knife that I pictured in this thread. Once again - If I'm going to have a Bowie knife I think it's pretty cool to have it made by a guy named Bowie.

The knife maker (Johnny Bowie) is one of the two guys that have sort of taken me under their wing and been mentors to me.

I've always loved a good knife and I'm by no means a collector, but to me a knife is one of the few functional life saving works of art you can build or buy. In a way historically its too bad we have got away from the art of gun smithing, their was once a time when a gun was not only functional but a work of art as well, but I suppose in the end functional is what puts the food on the table.

Well Dave, the more I look at that knife the more it may give my Bark River a run for it's money. You have heritage on your side but my Bark River is bread from jack hammer steel. Very nice knife!
