Mrs. Crash and I spent the day exploring O’Leno State Park. There’s still a lot we have to see, so another trip to the park will be in our future.

Nice pics Crash. I am a big fan of duckweed. I love to drag a worm across the top and have a big ole hawg bust the surface on it!

The cow killer is cools as well. Looks like a nice area.

That's actually a wingless wasp but we called them velvet ants when we were growing up. They are a pretty rare site up here but we do have them. I saw one last week and played with it a while. They are really a cool looking but pack a wollup if they sting you. Pretty painful so I hear. I've never been stung by one.

Great pics, Crash. I assume this was part of the Florida parks brochure you are doing. I have to ask...are those Cypress knees still there are are they in your shop destined to become scales?

Yes, this was a place that we picked out of the parks booklet we picked up. We left everything pretty much the way it was for others to enjoy.

Duckweed is pretty cool. When you look at it from a distance, it just looks like some kind of algae growing in the water, but closer inspection tells a different story. You just never know what is "hiding in the weeds".

We have those velvet ants here but we call them Fire Ants cuz when they sting it feels just like...well, you can guess.
We don't have REAL fire ants here.

Take it from a kid who didn't look where he was standing for most of his first ten years. We got fire ants a plenty.

Was that Ironweed and gayfeather? That mallow was pretty too. They seem to be late bloomers, don't they?
Those cow ant's hurt pretty bad when they sting. I'd heap rather be stung by 30 fire ants than I had one of those.
They are really common down here. I played with one yesterday. If you hold them down with a stick they make a wierd sound.. sort of like a scream or grunt.. it's kinda wierd.

That place looks a lot like most of the places around here. Tons of resources and dangers. Thanks for the pics. I'd love to visit there.
