This one isn't finished yet, but I thought I'd show what I've got so far. Steel is from - yep, you guessed it - a sawmill blade. Scales are armadillo over top of some laminated wood. Pins are brass. Still have to fill a few gaps, put an edge on it, mark it and make some pants. .....and no, that is not blood on my hand. It is leather dye from an earlier sheath project.

That is very gothic archicture isc. Pointed arch (blade). Ribbed vault (armadillo scales) and flying buttress (shape of the handle). That's pretty cool. You got all the major points in one knife. Awesome!

Nice Crash.

How is the gription on the armadillo? Looks like you put the back of the armadillo towards the blade. Does that add to, detract from or make no difference on the grip you get?

You got some real talent!

The grip is good. The ridges of the plates are smooth enough so that they feel comfortable in the hand. The spacers are a little thick, but it isn't too bad. I'll play around with it a little and the next set I use will have a little narrower grip.

I etched the knife today. The machine has two settings Mark (AC) and Etch (DC). The first two I did were the AC setting. This was the DC setting - seems to be more permanent.

Thanks. I kind of feel bad about the knife I sent you a while back that I made before I had a real grinder.
