Some of you may remember the old USN Ka-Bar I'd gotten from my late father-in-law. I was working on the handle, which was a compressed stack of leather washers, but never sanded down. I'd posted before & after pics awhile back, but hadn't done much with it until tonight. The way some of the home-made blades looked with 550 cord wrapped around the handle really looked cool to me so that's what I did to the Ka-Bar. Pics to follow soon! :cool2:

Looking forward to seeing how it turned out.

I can't say that it's the best I've ever seen, but it's the best I ever done, that's for sure. See what you guys started? :sneaky2:

Ditto what Rick said. Looks like it's very comfortable in the hand. Love the sheath by the way.

Definably nostalgic !Thanks, E.A.; here's the back story on the knife. It's an old USN MK2 made by Kabar. That's what's imprinted on the blade. It probably even saw some WWII action. My late FIL was a farm hand & found it buried in a parking lot at some type of farm product supply company. He dug it out & saw that only the steel was there as the leather handle had long since rotted away, so he put a bunch of leather washers on it & never sanded them down or anything. I got the knife when he passed away last Dec. or Jan. Not sure which, but wanted to start work on it. Here's the link to the original post:

The "before" pic is on the 1st page; both the "before" & "after" pics are on the 2nd page along with the U.S. Navy sheath I bought for it off of e-bay. Take a look. :cool2:
