bought this a few months back just cause it was really cheap and i needed to spend an extra $5 in order to get a discount. it was something like 7.50. its a stainless steal blade, not sure what the composition is. came very sharp and seems to be holding the edge very well. originally it had a cheap nylon cord handle wrap, but it was so insecurely wraped that it quickly fell off after only like 3 days. i might end up replacing it with some 550 paracord but i havent done it yet. i tried throwing it just to see if it worked as a throwing knife, than quickly remembered that i suck at throwing knives lol. well for 7.50 i wasnt expecting much so im not really disapointed.

Get a carbide drill bit and put some handles on it. I like the profile.

I bought one just like it a year or so back for 5 bucks at a yard sale, but mine came with a handle grip made with braided nylon cord. It does hold an edge pretty good even though it says "China" on the blade. I think I've seen these advertised at Major's Surplus & Survival. Sorta like this, only no "saw-back": :cool2:

If it works for you, then it works for me.

I think a paracord wrap, or drilling and attaching scales as Panch0 said would look good. Keep in mind - for functional - you don't need fancy - even Duct tape would make a serviceable handle.

Gosh, if you're willing to make a knife blade out of any expedient materials then I don't see why that knife won't work. It might not be the best blade on the planet but if it cuts then it was money well spent. IMHO.

I agree. I hope my post didn't sound as though I was putting the knife down.:blushing:

Not at all. Just echoing your sentiments.

i would second the idea of putting a scale handle on it. if you have access to a belt or bench grinder, you could even give the handle a little better contour first.

great score. anything that gets the job done and is no worse for it is a fine tool.

Through the yrs I've owned various "cheap" knives. Stainless slabs of questionable quality, but, I'm often pleasantly surprised by how durable they can be.

I could do alot with that knife with a dremal tool. :)
