Back around Christmas I was drawn by Crash as a gift exchange. He sent me some crashcarta as part of the gift. I finally got around to using it on this knife. The steel is some more recycled stuff I rescued from a garage. I believe it was a rack that came out of a mill back in the 40's or 50's. My guess is that it dates back to the very early 1900's. Anyways, it hardened nice but rusts very easily so I blued it. Take a look!

The guard is aluminum with stainless pins holding it and the pins in the scales are a clear acrylic. It gives a nice look to the handle.

This is fun to work with. It fits nice, works up nice and looks great! My only issue was I over sanded it and washed much of the denim look out of it. I might rough it up a little to get that look back.

I think it looks perfect the way it is, a knife anyone would be proud of.

Looks good. Must have been one hell'of-a RACK that the steel came from.

I think the rack held spools of thread in a mill that made fabric. There were bars about 1" x 1/4" that ran the length of it (8 feet) and rods that clipped to them and could be adjusted by sliding them in place. There were all kinds of springs and tensioners between the parts. I've never seen a fabric mill running so I have no idea what it might have been rigged like but I can only guess that the spools of thread were loaded on the rack to be fed into some sort of weaving machine.
