I'm not sure how much it costs them but I AM sure that that's where they make their money.

I'd hate to think that they were making a big profit on those 99 cent knives. :innocent:

Overall Length: 7.5
Blade Length: 3.5" INCHES

http://i.ebayimg.com/16/!BqTeni!BWk~$(KGrHqUOKjUEu,)ERutIBLvMU9qubw~~_35.J PG

Those numbers fit that picture? That would make the blade 46% of the length of the entire knife. That ain't what the pic shows.

Yeah it is..the "blade" ends at the primary bevel.

Which would be............. where? :blushing:

(In Ken's book, if it can cut my finger off, it's a blade.)

Your right but if you look, it is probably a half an inch from the "guard" to the bevel in the blade.

I kind of like the idea of the credit card knife. There are dog tag knives and I have been kicking around the idea of making my own. These are the ones I've seen. http://www.knifecenter.com/kc_new/store_detail.html?s=XTDOGTAG2 It doubles as a rescue mirror and a striker for your firesteel.

I think I can make it a little cheaper than this with about the same idea. I would probably add a better anchor system then a notch and two holes so that if you needed to add a handle it would be easier.

I like the dog tag knife but thats a crazy price in my opinion. I do like that crkt eat-n-tool at the bottom of the page.

Yeah, that eat-n-tool would pack pretty easy. I just figured out the cost of materials on the dog tag knife and even small scale like me, I could buy the materials to make it for about $3.45 each. That doesnt count belts or power to run the tools but there would be almost no labor (10 minutes perhaps once I get one laid out) I'll bet I could do one better then them for $10-15...I'll have to make one and see.

The dog tags are an interesting idea, The reviews at the bottom of the page aren't very good though,, and I agree, The price They are asking seems WAY too high,,

I didnt see anything in the reviews that couldnt easily be fixed. I wouldnt bother with the compass anyways and the only other problems were the polish not high enough on the blade and no way to hang the ferro rod.

The price doesnt make much sense though. Maybe I'll change my mind on that after I try one.
