Love the idea of a disguised/invisible house.
In fact, I often wondered why people didn't paint their cabins, say in "woodland camo" or anything else so it blended more with the surrounding. Kinda like the ultimate trompe l'oeil. It's something I would definitely do if I had a retreat, if for no other reason than an aesthetic one.

Don't want to deal with periscopes to see out unless there was no other choice. No, I'd like to blend in and take advantage of natural barriers. It would be an amazing challenge and fun to pull it off.

Hey, My dream home is an earth bermed Monolithic Dome Home. Think of it as a human sized version of Baggend (The Hobbit). Easy to heat and cool, blends into the enviroment, plenty of light from the southern exposure arched ceilings.......aaahhh heaven!

I would think it is going to be a really bad day when you look through the periscope and see an eyeball looking back.
