Looks pretty cool. But I don't know if it would have enough heft in it for anything outside of an urban environment. I didn't see any price on it and apparently it's manufactured through TOPS, so I'm expecting it to be a little more than I'd like to put out.

it looks pretty sweet. i must say though, to my eye the hafting job in the picture does *not* look up to any real work.

they should prove me wrong by mailing me one for evaluation purposes...

I couldn't analyze it either. Glad you posted that, thought my eyes had gone or I drank my breakfast. That looked like something Ronco would sell on TV. I never cared for any "one thingy does all" type of tool, but if it came with instructions(large print) I might look at one.:blushing:

If you can arrange a discount for WSF members ( $10 each, free shipping), I bet you could get some people to take buy one in the name of quality control.

Maybe we can get Ken to call them about this, who knows after he talks to them maybe they will pay us to evaluate it.:innocent:

I think $70 is a bit low for Tops.

I'm thinking $125-$150. They think a lot of their 1095. Then they have to pay for all the add work, which they put more time into than they do their blades. And they have to pay some draft-dodger pr special ops guy to endorse it. That adds to the price.

Well, there ya go.........knife makers......Idea?

Maybe someone should let them know that if they want to sell a knife/ etc. on a website they should include a price, a link to purchase, and avoid the flashy pictures.

They might get a better response. Tops knives lists it on their site without a price and states it can only be purchased thru the above website.

I wouldn't pay more than 20-30 bucks for it myself. Considering it's supposedly crafted in the USA I might pay more, but, it's not a tool I would need or want.

Not for me. I did put this together a few months ago but never finished it. It is hardened and just needs to be cleaned up and given something to wear. I think it would prove to be more useful but I really havnt tested it yet either.

I just got an email from them re: the price,

COPY,

Hi Scott,

Are you asking about the Eco Hawk? We have a few different hawks. But I’m going to guess that you found us through the Tops website?

The Eco Hawk is $85 for the kit, or $75 for the Eco alone. Shipping is $5 and tax applies if you are in Ca. We take Paypal for payment, and I can send you an invoice when you are ready.

Thanks,

Erica

If that was something I was intersted in I'd consider it for that price, if it's entirely made in USA that is.

They seemed to respond fairly quick.

Depending on the size, it looks like something anybody could make from something like a leaf spring leaf. Flatten it, and do a little grinding/sanding. For a heck of a lot less than $75. In fact, I'll sell them for $74 a piece! There will be an added charge for the collection of the leaf springs (I only use the springs off 09 cadalacs) As there is a risk of serious prison time.

Also, that's a cool lookin knife camp!

Well they did say they were doing it to raise money for a publishing business, so, I guess they're hoping to find a "niche" market.

I recognize the name Vector, Vec is also the guy that makes Tomahawk handles from a special process.... they are supposed to last for life, But he charges $270+ for those and each one is a Custom job.

The next time I drop by the knife shop of the guy that's been helping me, I'll snap a picture of the hawk he made. I'll bet that you'll want one.

It would be just my luck to buy one of those and die the next day.....proving him right.
