did some testing on silverweed as an edible yesterday
and i was wondering about the long runners as cordage

so i got one of the runners and tied a loop

and then i doubled this

and looked for some stuff to hang
started with this tow hook thingy ( i found along the highway )

and i looked for other stuff to hang from this silverweed loop

final tally was the tow hook thingy, a 12 inch crowbar, a cheapo hammer and 18″ bolt cutters

i think silverweed runners has a future as temporary cordage for me

Tying it in knots and hanging weight on it. What? No YouTube link with a staged video by an expert endorsing it? How can that ever work? I like it!

LOL, I hear ya.......

CG nice job, best way to see if something works is to try it, congrats!
Might be on to something here.

What could you see as possible uses in the field?
Just intrested.

Looks like it could be a right handy find. I'll bet braiding (fast and easy) three strands would make some pretty substantial cordage. Are you going to see how it does as it dries out?

i have some hanging up to dry out, in a few days i'll try the weight test again
maybe i'll go get some fresh ones, do a triple weave, let it dry, and see what kind of strength it has
