I liked the bag. I question the contents. It will not be long before it occurs to you to add a roll of toilet paper to your kit. Is that what the extra pair of undies is for? The kit does look consistent with most I have seen it's just I am one of the rare Alaskans that was here before the wave of pipeliners and back to the land hippies invaded. We are out numbered a 1000 to 1 so we don't know what we are talking about and I'm used to that, just think about the toilet paper thing. You'll be able to leave all that fire starter stuff behind since dry toilet paper is good tinder.

I keep toilet paper in my Bug Out Bag and some in my truck. I was going to put some TP in here too but it tok up so much room so I figure Baby Wipes will do the trick. I hate being without TP that's for sure.

I like the camper too. That should get you out more and make a great base camp. I have found on long trips here that it is good to drive a few hours the night before, pull over and sleep and then just drive a couple more the next morning. It breaks up th long drives to get to places up here.

Rodger the TP, great looking kit.
Add a couple of heavy duty garbage bags, (poncho, ground cloth, waders, shoe/boot liners) etc. Folds falt doesn't take up much room.

I would change the bulbs in the mag lites to LED's (about $10 per light) Batteries will last much longer and they won't burn out until after you are 35 assuming your about 27+/- now from your pictures, and that's if you use them 24/7

Oh how I wish I was 27 again. :) eh 29 close enough. Most people guess way younger, must be the facial hair. Where can I get these LED's for my mag lights?

You can get the LEDs just about anywhere Mag lights are sold. Wally world has them. I may have picked mine up at Ace Hardware. I think there are a couple of Ace's in Anchorage.

I really don't care for the led conversions for the Mini mag. Converted several for work.

Yeah, the batteries last longer, but you loose the ability to focus the beam, and you do have to change out the reflector part, rendering the spare bulb in the end cap useless.

If you want a led type light, I would just carry a led light.

Great looking kit. Just wondering, how much does it weigh (with/ without water)? Also, do you keep your pistol and spare magazine in the bag, or in a holster?

Not sure what the weight is since we don't have a scale. It is fairly heavy with the pistol and bottle full of water, but not horrible. I keep the bag in my truck but do not leave the pistol in there since we live on Base. My plan is to keep my Beretta 9000 S in this kit all the time after we move. The Beretta is lighter and will fit better.

The other thing you lose is the ability to make fire with your mag light. You can't do that with an LED version.
