I have a favorite knife that Has been passed down through the years. This knife is always on my side whenever I'm out and about. It has dressed an untold number of animals and skinned many pelts among other general uses in the field. Other than who carried it before me I dont know much about it.
Its stamped...Maples Gladstone on one side and patented 1916 on the other. Dispite its years of use is still in great shape. I know Maples makes quality woodworking cutting tools but had no Idea they made hunting knives.
Can anyone fill in the blanks here for me ?

wow, that's news to me too. I'd heard of the woodworking tools as well, it'll be interesting to find out Can you post a picture of the knife sometime?

I rewraped the handle years ago. My dad had theold cloth electrical tape around it. I'm not sure but I believe when I took the tape off there was a cork handle but I could be mistaken.

Cant get a picture to upload. will try again

There are some on eBay. One has a 1916 marking. Marbles Gladstone.

Here's another link to a 1916:

Here's an article on the Woodcraft knife Marbles came out with in 1916.
