Here you go Coyote Hunter. I still have all the finish work to do but this should give you a good idea of what it is going to be. For everyone else, this is yet another knife from the buggy springs I found up at camp. This steel is from the early to mid 1800's and works up into a very nice and unique looking knife.

I had a thread (I think called "I recycle")about the original knife from this steel. The pictures are gone from that thread but the last picture here is that first knife.

Next one I do I will take pictures. I use the band saw, drill press, files and a few of the sanders to shape it. It is pretty simple with these tools. I round the choil with a file, drill a hole the thickness of the steel through the brass at the depth that I need to get me to the spine and then use the bandsaw to cut from the top of the brass to the hole I drilled. I then remove the brass I need with the file so that it fits tight to the steel. I drill two holes through the brass and the steel to pin it all together. I will peen these pins over and then solder it all together. I doubt that helps much but I will add pictures next week when I make the next one and it should clear it up. I kind of have a fear of knives without some kind of finger guard so I have been making them for quite a while.

Wow! What a fantastic job! Very nice and I like the character of the steel.

If your camera has a tulip looking symbol on it, that's for taking very close pictures. It is a macro feature, that is on most digital cameras, and I never knew that until I took a photo class. It's a pretty cool feature to play with.

Yeah, I use the close up but it always wants to focus on other stuff...the tree in the background or the stump or whatever. I am lousy with a camera. My wife has a cousin that is great and I really should get her to teach me a little.

Since you are in arms reach of it, place your hand next to the knife and focus on your hand (larger subject to focus on), get your hand in focus, remove your hand (without releasing your camera sutter button) and then snap the pic.

Your camera may also have a close up feature.

Thanks, I'll try that. I have a halfway decent camera, or at least good enough so that I cant blame it. It does have close up, and all kinds of others that I havnt played with yet.
