My 14 year old daughter and I went on an overnight canoe trip this past weekend. It was her first overnight canoe trip and she loved it. We were on the Saline River in south Arkansas which is a beautiful river. Fairly remote with very little river traffic and great sandbars to camp on.

Very cool!

In fact it was quite cool, it got down into the high 50s at night and was great.

I can't wait to take a conoe trip myself. This long winter is getting to me and nothing like floating on the river to restore your soul.

I agree, it seemed to take forever for the rivers to drop below flood stage so we could start paddling this year.

Arkansas has some fabulous rivers. We did the Lower Buffalo a few years back and it just doesn't get much more pristine than that. Glad you had a good time and every one stayed safe.

Rick I love the Buffalo and have made many trips on it, but it is too popular and tends to be crowded. There are several other lesser known rivers and streams which are as good or better to float and are considerably less crowded that I prefer to float. We covered 16 miles in a day and a half on the Saline and only saw 4 boats and a total of seven people. My idea of an ideal float trip has plenty of isolation = plenty of peace and quiet.
