This is not at all meant to be a political thread,

The Tea party express is going to be in nearby Searchlight Nevada real soon, this is about 45min from where I live, Searchlight is a VERY SMALL town, ya blink and ya miss it kind of thing, Why they are holding their rally there is beyond me ????? Its been all over the local news, its going to be hell for police, the actual rally is going to take place in a patch of open desert near town, ????? I dont get it, What a dumb place for a rally ? BTW, The "ONE" motel there has been sold out for months,, LOL Ya think lol

Seriously? You don't get it? Searchlight, Nevada - home of the Senate majority leader.

As far a Tea Party rally's go - I've been to quite a few. Without exception, the LEO's at them have said that here has not been any problems. People were respectful and polite. Were they loud? You betcha! Look at the march last year on Washington, DC. I know it didn't get too much coverage, but 1.7 million people - not one arrest. Some workers said, following the rally that there was less trash to pick up than before the rally started - that most folks were making sure that everything was picked up. So trouble for the local police? I doubt it.

I just heard on local news that the little motel in Searchlight sold out all of it shabby rooms for 700 dollars a night, all the local camp grounds are booked and all the houseboats on the lake are rented ,, The police are concerned that the roads cannot handle the traffic, (lots of 2 lane) and following the searchlight event with Sarah Palin, there is a ticketed event with Ann Coulter in Nearby Henderson NV, Police are worried about The searchlight crowd trying to crash Henderson ,

Yep. Been to several. The smallest had maybe 150 people. The largest had about 50,000. I've met people from all walks of life at them and from many political persuasions. Some of the reporting on them has not been accurate.

Yes, I am sure you are right about that, The media (all) tends to film only the extremists, I would like to see for myself, but I used to tow for AAA and I went through searchlight all the time,, Its going to be an absolute nightmare , The main road through town is 2 lanes, and between Searchlight and I40 is two lanes, People get killed on that road all the time,,, Oh, and to top it off, There is a RR crossing in town and a 6 track crossing on the way to town,, Its going to be interesting ;)

I've been to them myself and the media definitely doesn't report what really happens at them. We had a permit for the sidewalk and a few Fort Lauderdale cops led by one cop decided we didn't have a right to use the sidewalk. The cop threatened these guys with arrest. But, they stood their ground for their right to assemble. Most just want to be properly represented. Some are true patriots!

This keeps getting worse, The Rally is being held in the open desert , they cleared all the brush,, No Pavement anywhere, and the Weather service just issued this statement, and this will include Searchlight,

COPY,

.LAKE WIND ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM PDT /11 AM MST/ TO 6 PM PDT /6 PM MST/ SATURDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LAS VEGAS HAS ISSUED A LAKE WIND ADVISORY FOR THE COLORADO RIVER VALLEY...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM PDT /11 AM MST/ TO 6 PM PDT /6 PM MST/ SATURDAY.

* WINDS: NORTH WINDS SUSTAINED AT 25 MPH WITH GUSTS OVER 35 MPH.

* TIMING: LAKE WIND ADVISORY LEVEL WINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BEGIN TO DEVELOP SATURDAY MORNING...AND PERSIST THROUGHOUT THE DAY.

* LOCATIONS INCLUDE: THE LAKE MEAD NATIONAL RECREATION AREA AND AREAS TO THE SOUTH ALONG THE COLORADO RIVER INCLUDING LAUGHLIN...BULLHEAD CITY..AND LAKE HAVASU.

* IMPACTS: STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE DANGEROUS BOATING CONDITIONS ON AREA LAKES DURING THE ADVISORY PERIOD. THESE WINDS WILL CREATE VERY CHOPPY WATERS AND GENERATE LARGE WAVES WHICH COULD CAPSIZE OR SWAMP SMALL CRAFT. FOR YOUR PERSONAL SAFETY...OPERATORS OF SMALL CRAFT ARE URGED TO POSTPONE THEIR OUTINGS UNTIL THE WINDS SUBSIDE. IF YOU DO VENTURE OUT ONTO THE LAKES...AVOID THE OPEN WATER AND STAY CLOSE TO SHORE OR IN PROTECTED COVES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A LAKE WIND ADVISORY INDICATES THAT WINDS WILL CAUSE ROUGH CHOP ON AREA LAKES. SMALL BOATS WILL BE ESPECIALLY PRONE TO CAPSIZING.

Harry Reid Supporters Egg Tea Party Express Buses in Route

Supporters of Senator Harry Reid have just thrown eggs at the Tea Party Express bus caravan - striking at least one of the three buses (the red Tea Party Express bus) with multiple eggs.

About 35 Reid supporters had lined Highway 95 in front of the Nugget Casino in Searchlight where they were attempting a counter-demonstration the tens of thousands of tea party supporters who are gathering for the "Showdown in Searchlight."

I did not see anything about this on the news anyplace, Lets see, Parking was a nightmare, Cars lined hwy 95 for miles in each direction of the dirt road going in to the lot where the rally was, Oh,, also, at the same time as the Rally was happening, Senator Reid was with the President of The NRA dedicating a New Shooting park In Vegas or near Vegas ,, Thats about it, I haven't heard of any serious incidents, Everyone was carrying the usual signs, The Reid supporters stayed away from the Rally site, They gathered in town,, Not sure on those numbers, but was mostly locals. I am judging by the video I seen maybe 100-150 ? I really dont know .

That's the thing about the Tea Parties. They are peaceful and don't get much coverage.

My sources tell me that things began to get really tense there for a while. :innocent: Minor disputes broke out over such issues as steeping times, sweetening, tea pots vs. cup infusers, and whether or not you should stick your pinky finger out when holding the cup.

Fortunately, things didn't boil over, and most in attendance felt that the small minority of trouble makers present amounted to nothing more than a tempest in a teapot.

Thousands of supporters from various delegations proclaimed the virtues of their preferred candidates. The following factions were represented.

Chinese Gunpowder Green Tea

Chinese Oolong Teas

Taiwan (Formosa) Oolong Tea

Formosa Oolong Peach Blossom

Chinese Black Keemum

Chinese Black Lapsang Souchong

Chinese Black Yunnan Western

Indian Assam

Indian Darjeeling

Ceylon Dimbula

Ceylon Kandy

Ceylon Nuwara Elz:ya

Ceylon Uva

Japanese Green Sencha

Japanese Green Sencha Brancha

Chinese White Teas

Blended Teas

English Breakfast Tea

Earl Grey Tea

Russian Caravan Tea

Herbal Teas

Jasmine Tea

Rose Pouchong Tea

Chrysanthemum Tea

Orchid Tea

Lychee Tea

Fruit Teas

Tesa from Roots

Teas from Grains

Rooibos or Red Tea

We had a teaparty at the county Building in San Diego a while back and they left the lawn covered in teabags and trash. I witnessed it personally. It was truly sad...
