Ok... So I know if I'm making stew or tea, that when I get the water boiling up it will be ok to consume. But what about water I'd use if I was making a bush bread of some kind, in other words baking. no my next trip out this spring I want to try out some recipes. So... do I need to purify the water I'm using before I bake?

I would.

Unless the nasties that may potentially be in the water are killed, they can make you sick. I personally would not rely on the temperatures reached during making bread to do that. They may, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

I'd agree with that. I've made bread and stuff over an open fire, etc. and sometimes it's not 100% done. Even if it is done it might be bordering on the line for safe temp and time. I'd think the germs would be killed, but I'd rather just boil it first to rest easy.

Except for water with fluoride in it.
Boiling breeds the fluoride, and make the water more toxic

I'm gonna need a source on that one too. Most municipal water supplies use Fluoridated water right? So cooking and boiling water that comes from the tap would - what??????????

Boil the water before you add it to your baking mix,,

I think he means concentrates it. That would be correct. The water will evaporate because of the boiling but the flouride will be left behind in increasing concentrations.

When ever I cook water, I can't really tell when it done?
Stuck a fork in it, feels the same, tooth pick floats, so when is it done?

Breeds the fluoride? New one?

It's kind of like pasta. Throw it against the wall, and when your wife smacks you upside the head - it's done.:innocent:

Or you can use the smoke alarm. That's usually a good sign the cooking is done.

Oh yeah. I had to clean the oven Friday because of two overflowing sweet potatoes I baked. They looked like those smoke snakes in the bottom of the oven. Glad it was self cleaning.
