I'd think roughly around 4 1/2 or so,calling a cord 4'x4'x8'.Three cords should fill it completely to a height of 4'.There would be 3' above that at the open side,& about a foot above at the back.
Weird thing about firewood prices around here.........
There are several road-side "honor-system" wood stands in front of homes, where you can stop and pick up a bundle for $5.00. Get your wood, slip the money into a locked metal box with a slit on top, and drive off.
The bundles are usually about 18" x 24" x 24". That comes out to about 6 cubic feet for $5.00, or $106.66 per cord.
The average price for a cord, delivered, is around $245.00
Go figure.

You mean they won't load a cord of wood on to a truck, bring it to your house and unload the cord of wood, for no additional charge? What the heck is wrong with them???:innocent:

It's a lot easier loading a single truck than 6 individial bins two or three times a day, ain't it? The place that sells for $245 is about three minutes away. And they don't unload it, they dump it - from a dump truck.
Usually, things sold in bulk ARE cheaper. Right?

Had to share this gem of an idea for using a shipping container. They are not as expensive as I thought, but boy, what a neat idea if you have some space on your property:

(Hunter's "The Place" can use one for when I come to visit  )

Yeah, I actually looked into shipping containers.....too expensive, hard to get here, and too much work to convert to what you need.
Look like crap.......
I want to try a pallet system, where I can load on the process site....then transport to the cabin w/tractor and place under a roof.....to be used as needed.

Yessum, I am pretty good with tools. In fact 99.9% of the tools we have (incl. power tools) I got and I use.
So, you're on! :wine:
